The Floss Pro, explained

A professional between-the-teeth clean in about one minute a day. Here's why water flossing works, how the Floss Pro does it, and whether it's the right fit for you.

01The why

Why water flossing exists

Brushing is the foundation of good oral care, but a toothbrush can only do part of the job. It cleans the surfaces it can reach and leaves the spaces in between largely untouched, which is exactly where most problems begin.

± 60%

Of your tooth surface is roughly what a regular brush reaches. The remaining ± 40% sits between your teeth and along the gumline, where bristles simply don't fit.

Why does debris stay between your teeth?

The gaps between your teeth are narrow, and toothbrush bristles are too thick and stiff to get into them. Food particles and plaque, a thin, sticky film of bacteria, settle there and stay put.

Why doesn't a toothbrush remove it?

A brush glides over the outside of your teeth. It was never designed to reach the contact points where two teeth meet, so no matter how thoroughly you brush, those spots keep their build-up.

What does a water flosser do differently?

Instead of pushing bristles across a surface, it sends a thin, pulsating stream of water into the gaps and along the gumline. The water reaches where a brush can't and rinses loose debris away, gently.

Why do your gums matter as much as your teeth?

Healthy teeth need a healthy foundation. When plaque lingers along the gumline, the gum becomes irritated, the first step towards inflammation, bleeding and, over time, more serious gum problems. Caring for your gums is caring for your whole mouth.

02The upgrade

Why the Floss Pro beats string floss

String floss works, if you use it, correctly, every day. In practice, that's where it falls down for most people. The Floss Pro removes the friction that makes flossing easy to skip.

  • Less hassle — no winding string around your fingers or fiddling at the back of your mouth. You guide, the water does the work.
  • More comfortable — a soft, pulsing stream instead of string pressed between tight teeth.
  • Made for daily use — the whole routine takes about a minute, so it's realistic to keep up.
  • Reaches the hard spots — back molars, braces and dental work that string struggles to get around.
  • Gentle on your gums — you start soft and set the pressure to what feels right for you.

It isn't about string floss being bad. It's about choosing the method you'll actually do every day, because the routine you keep up is the one that helps.

03The mechanism

How does a water flosser work?

Most people have never had it explained. It's simpler than it looks.

The water stream

A small pump inside the handle pushes water from the reservoir out through the tip in a thin, targeted jet, about as wide as a toothpick. You aim it along the gumline and between your teeth.

Why pulsating water is effective

The stream doesn't flow continuously, it pulses many times per second. Those rapid pulses create a gentle compression-and-release action that lifts debris out of the gaps far better than a steady flow, while also lightly massaging the gums.

Why it loosens debris

Water reaches into the narrow spaces bristles can't enter and flushes out food particles and loose plaque, including just under the gumline where build-up often starts.

Why you don't need any force

All the cleaning power comes from the water, not from pressing hard. You simply hold the tip in place and let it move slowly along your teeth. No scrubbing, no strain.

04The results

What benefits will you notice?

Forget the technical specs for a moment. Here's what it actually feels like over time.

After a few days
  • A fresher mouth
  • A noticeably cleaner feeling between your teeth
  • Fewer trapped food particles after meals
After a few weeks
  • Healthier-looking gums
  • Less bleeding when cleaning
  • Less plaque along the gumline
  • Better overall oral hygiene

These aren't promises of a transformation, they're the everyday results people tend to notice when between-teeth cleaning finally becomes a habit.

05Who it's for

Who is the Floss Pro for?

Chances are you'll recognise yourself somewhere here. The Floss Pro is a good fit for:

  • Everyday oral care — anyone who wants a thorough clean without extra effort.
  • Sensitive gums — start on the softest setting and build up at your own pace.
  • Braces — water reaches around brackets and wires where string can't.
  • Implants — gentle, careful cleaning around the gumline.
  • Crowns — keeps the edges and surrounding gum clean.
  • Bridges — flushes the spaces underneath that are hard to reach otherwise.
  • Veneers — a soft, non-abrasive way to clean around them.
  • Hard-to-reach molars — the back of the mouth, made easy.
06In practice

How do you use it?

After a couple of tries it becomes second nature, in about one minute. Step by step:

  1. Fill the reservoirUse lukewarm water, especially if your teeth are sensitive.
  2. Attach the tipClick a clean tip onto the handle; turn it to point where you need it.
  3. Choose a modeBegin on Soft the first few times, then set the mode that suits you.
  4. Lean over the sinkKeep your lips slightly closed so the water runs off neatly, without splashing.
  5. Move along the gumlineHold the tip at the edge where tooth and gum meet, pausing briefly between each tooth. Don't forget the inside and the back molars.
  6. Empty the reservoirPour out any leftover water and let the tip air-dry.

09The comfort

Why the Floss Pro feels comfortable

If flossing has always felt like a chore, this is the part that changes your mind.

  • No string between your teeth — nothing to force into tight gaps or snap against your gums.
  • No pain — a soft, pulsing stream you control, starting as gentle as you like.
  • No complicated technique — aim along the gumline and let the water do the work.
  • Done in under a minute — short enough to fit any morning or evening.
10Peace of mind

Is it safe?

A fair thing to check before you start. In short: used as intended, the Floss Pro is designed to be gentle.

  • Daily use? Yes, once a day is ideal.
  • Sensitive gums? Yes, start on Soft and build up slowly.
  • Implants? Yes, gentle water is well suited to cleaning around them.
  • Bridges? Yes, it flushes the spaces underneath that are otherwise hard to reach.
  • Veneers? Yes, it's non-abrasive and won't scratch.
  • Crowns? Yes, it keeps the edges and surrounding gum clean.
  • Braces? Yes, it's one of the easiest ways to clean around brackets and wires.
  • Children? Only with adult supervision and on the lowest setting; for young children, ask your dentist first.
  • Older adults? Yes, and the easy grip and simple controls are often a welcome change from fiddly string.
Good to know If you've recently had oral surgery, or you have a specific dental condition, check with your dentist or dental hygienist about the right setting for your situation.
11Realistic expectations

When will I see results?

Everyone is different, but here's a realistic picture with consistent daily use.

Right away
  • A cleaner, fresher feeling after the very first use
After about a week
  • Fresher, more comfortable gums
  • Less trapped debris day to day
After a few weeks
  • Healthier gums and less bleeding, with consistent use
  • Less plaque build-up along the gumline

The key word is consistent. A calm minute every day does far more than an occasional deep clean.

12Your questions

Product FAQ

Does it hurt?
No. On a low setting it feels like a light, tingling stream. Start on Soft and increase the pressure only as far as feels comfortable.
Will my gums bleed?
They might a little at first, usually a sign the gum was already slightly inflamed. With gentle daily use, bleeding typically settles within a few days to a couple of weeks. If it doesn't, or it's heavy, check with your dentist.
How often should I use it?
Once a day is plenty for most people, ideally in the evening so you clear away the day's build-up before sleep.
Before or after brushing?
Either works. There's no strict rule, so pick the order you'll keep up. What matters most is doing it daily.
Can I add mouthwash to the water?
Lukewarm water is all you need. If you like, you can add a little alcohol-free mouthwash, then rinse the reservoir with clean water afterwards so nothing is left behind. Check the manual for what's recommended.
How often should I replace the tip?
Roughly every 3 to 6 months, or sooner if it looks worn or discoloured. Replacement tips are available separately.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. With an IPX7 rating it's built to handle full contact with water, so you can use and rinse it safely around the sink.
Can it come travelling?
Yes. It's cordless, charges over USB-C and holds enough charge for around 60 to 80 sessions, so it easily lasts a trip.
13Looking after it

Care & maintenance

A few small habits keep your Floss Pro fresh and working well for years.

  • Clean the reservoir — empty it after every use and rinse regularly with clean water; let it air-dry to keep it fresh.
  • Rinse the tips — rinse under the tap after use and let them dry fully before storing.
  • Descale now and then — if you live in a hard-water area, run a mild water-and-vinegar solution through it occasionally, then flush with clean water.
  • Store it dry — keep it upright somewhere ventilated rather than sealed away damp.
  • Charge over USB-C — a full charge lasts many sessions; top it up when the display shows it's low.
